BORROWING / RETURNING BOOKS
Can I borrow and return books at any time?
Yes! For borrowing and returning books, you use the borrowing and returning machines. You can always do this yourself, even if no staff is present.
I forgot my pass. Can I still borrow during self-service hours?
At the library, you borrow your books yourself through a borrowing machine. It is important to have your card with you.
Tip: keep your card digital with you. There are several free apps for this, such as Stocard, the OK app or PasNL. With a few clicks the app is on your phone and you can easily add your pass yourself. You can scan your digital pass at the borrowing machine.
I am looking for a particular book. How can I find it during self-service hours?
Search for the book in the catalog on the computers. On the right of the title you see the "Where is it?" button. If you click on this, an overview appears showing where the book is located in the library, and whether the book is available or already on borrow.
Can I get book tips during self-service hours?
Yes! There is a big screen between the returning machines and the borrowing machines. This is Whats Next. Here, scan the barcode of a book you like, or type in the name of the book or an author. Whats Next will then give you tips for books you will (hopefully) also like.
The borrowing machine is giving an error message. What should I do now?
There are several reasons why the borrowing machine may give an error message.
- The borrowing machine is very sensitive. It may have already scanned the books without you realizing it. On the screen, click "Overview" to see if the books are already on your card. Yes? Then you can ignore the error message, and you can just take the books home!
- The book may not have been processed properly in our system. We can only resolve this when staff is present. During self-service hours, it is unfortunately not possible to borrow the book.
WORKING / STUDYING
Can I always use the workstations?
Yes! During opening hours, you can use your own laptop and find a spot in the library, even if there is no staff present. Also, the computers are switched on for you to use. Log into the computer with the number on your library card. Not a library member? Then get a free voucher at the pin station to access the computer.
Is there wifi in the library?
Yes, you can also use the wifi during self-service hours.
